About Us

CFA registered Cattery

Fabled Coons Cattery is committed to excellence both in the breed standard and the care we provide to all of our cats. To show our commitment to this standard we maintain registration with both CFA and TICA.

All kittens or cats being placed in new homes will leave with CFA or TICA pre-registration paperwork.

Genetic Diseases

Our studs are tested for HCM, PKD, and SMA and are double negative(N/N) for all three. The tests were run by UC Davis Veterinary Sciences.

Vaccinations

Kittens are vaccinated for Panleukopenia, Calicavirus, and Rhinotracheitis. Although we maintain a regular worming routine with all of our cats, we proactively worm kittens before placing them in their new homes.

We choose to vaccinate at home under the oversight of our associated vet. Why do we vaccinate at home? Because many animals visiting a vet are not well and can transmit their illnesses to kittens with immature immune systems. Kittens are also health checked before being sent to their new homes.

Nutrition

In our commitment to being ethical breeders, we have chosen food and a feeding schedule that we believe maintains the optimal health for our cats.

Our cats are fed a regulated amount of quality feed twice a day. This allows us to manage and watch the behavior and nutritional intake of all of our cats, ensuring that every one of them is receiving the specific diet and nutrition that is ideal for them.

We choose to feed our cats and kittens ROYAL CANIN kibbles and canned foods. We have found that our cats thrive on the high protein formula which more closely resembles a cats natural carnivorous diet. In addition, the large kibble size of the breed-specific formula, Royal Canin-Maine Coon, encourages oral and dental health in these larger than average cats.

Our pregnant and nursing mothers are offered a free choice combination of this normal kibble, together with Royal Canin Mother & Babycat kibble and canned food.

Socialization and Interaction

We are intentional about socialization with every kitten in our Cattery. We introduce all cats and kittens to a range of sounds, textures, noises ( as well as our very loving family dog) in the desire to prepare these little ones for the easiest transition to their new homes. They are given access to toys, blankets, different textured flooring, and general household noises through our daily home life. Once our babies are old and strong enough to be gently played with, we incorporate daily play times with our children, who delight in the chance to shower our sweet babies with love and play.

Pets enrich our lives, and we want to enrich the lives of each of these kittens. We believe these steps we take will help each of our kittens to have a long, happy, healthy, trusting relationship with you and your family.
